1#Avoid Alcohol or Smoking

Alcohol or smoking is a major reason behind snoring because after the consumption it relaxes the muscle and tissues inside the throat and this narrows down the airway. Do not consume alcohol before snoozing off to bed or else it will cause snoring and your sleep rhythm will get disturbed. Also avoiding fatty foods and a large meal before bedtime gives relief from snoring.

2#Lose That Weight

Excess weight is also a main cause for increase in snoring during the sleep. Those who are overweight snores more than those people who have a balanced weight. Reducing extra weight helps in keeping the snoring at bay and gives a peaceful sleep along with a healthy body.

3#Peppermint

Peppermint has anti-inflammatory properties that helps in soothing swelling of the membranes present in the linings of our nostrils and throat. This leads to reduction in the snoring and gives you a peaceful sleep throughout the night. It is also very effective in curing dry nose, cold and cough or snoring caused by any kind of allergy. Just take a glass of warm water and add 2 drops of peppermint oil into this water. Mix them well and then gargle with this water before you doze off to the bed.

4#Oilve Oil

Olive oil is an anti-inflammatory oil that helps in curing the inflammation in the airway passage. It soothes away the inflames tissues of the respiratory passage. It also helps in reducing the swelling and makes the nasal passage clear that reduces the chances of snoring while you sleep. Take one and a half tsp of olive oil and mix it with equal amount of honey. Consume this mixture while you go to the bed as this soothes the air passage and gives a clear throat and smooth breathing pattern.

5#Cardamom

Cardamom is not only used for the enhanced flavor but it has medicinal properties as well. Cardamom is a well-known expectorant that helps in soothing down the congestion and gives a peaceful sleep during the night time. It helps in opening up the blocked passages of the nose and keeps breathing smooth and easy. Take half a tsp of cardamom powder and mix it with a glass of lukewarm water. Now drink this water 30 minutes before going to the bed as this will give you a relaxed sleep and keeps your snoring at bay.

6#Turmeric

Turmeric is a well-known expectorant that keeps nasal passage relaxed and also treats the inflammation. It also helps in reducing the heavy snoring and gives a relaxed feeling to the mind that helps in a good sleep. Take turmeric milk before going to the bed. For this, you need to take a glass of milk in a pan and add 2 tsp of turmeric powder in it. Let it boil for 5 minutes and then drink it when its warm before going to the bed. Turmeric not only brings a good sleep but also treats the inflammation in the nasal passage that leads to snoring.

7#Garlic

Garlic is used in many dishes for its enhanced flavor and strong aroma. It is also widely used for treating various diseases and ailments due to its medicinal properties. It helps in drying up the nasal passage and cures sinus blockage as well that causes snoring while sleeping. Take 1 or 2 cloves of garlic and simply swallow them with a glass of water. Make sure that you take small cloves or else the big ones might get stuck into your throat. Take this before bedtime to reduce snoring and promote a good sleep as well.

8#Honey

Honey helps in reducing the swelling in the airway passage that blocks it and this causes snoring while sleeping. It also soothes the throat and prevents the vibrations in the throat that leads to snoring. Take 1-2 tsp of warm honey before going to the bed on daily basis and you will see that your snoring habit will improve in few days.

9#Chamomile

Chamomile has various medicinal properties and it soothes the inflammtion and swelling as well. Chamomile has bisabolol that helps in relaxing the nerves and muscles around the throat. It also helps in bringing a better and peaceful sleep. Take a cup of water in a pan and add boil it. Now pour the water into the cup and place 1 chamomile tea bag into it. Let it steep for 10 minutes and add 1 tsp of honey to it. Drink this tea every night before going to the bed. You will experience less snoring and a peaceful sleep.

10#Ginger

Ginger has anti-inflammatory properties that gives protection from the attack of various viruses and bacteria. It also soothes the inflammation in the throat and keeps the throat moist and opens up the nasal cavity as well. Ginger also helps in reducing the swelling in the throat and this further helps in preventing the snoring at night while sleeping. Take an inch of ginger piece and crush it. Now put this crushed ginger into a cup of water and let it boil for 5 minutes. Cover it for another 5 minutes after taking it off from the heat. Now add 1 tsp of honey to this and mix well. Drink this mixture 2-3 times in a day and 30 minutes before going to the bed at night. This will give much needed relief from snoring.
