Childhood overweight/obesity has both immediate and long-term health issues. Childhood obesity can have a harmful effect on the body in different ways. Increased weight results in serious medical problems. It increases gradually in the past 30 years. According to recent survey, the percentage of obese children who were aged 5-10 years, increased from 10 percent in 2000 to 20 percent in 2016. That means it was just happened in the span of 16 years. It sounds very bad for the nation as it indicates children’s health is in risky zone.

Having excess body weight, particularly in the parts of muscle, bone, fat, water or related factors are known to be called as obesity or overweight. Caloric balance is defined as the number of calories you consume in compared to the number of calories you spend. In this regard, it may leads to caloric imbalance.

Some factors, such as behavioural, genetic and environmental affects the caloric balance. Kids who are in overweight, they may have a greater risk of psychological issues. Self-esteem is very important for each and every person in the earth.

Furthermore, it is associated with several types of cancers, such as colon, breast, kidney, esophagus, thyroid, pancreas, prostate, cervix, ovary, etc.

Overweight children have poorer social skills as they tend to feel anxiety. At some point, their classed are disrupted by these issues that may impact their behaviour. So, teachers should carefully observe such kids at all times. Feeling of hopelessness and loneliness can be created by this severe problem.
