Many causes may lead to a dry nose such as dehydration, dry winter winds, air conditioning, dry summer winds, etc. It may also be a side effect of certain medications such as antihistamines or decongestants.

Steam is the best way to moisten the mucous membrane of the nose. It relieves mucus from the nostrils and also prevents dryness of nose and burning.
Fill a bowl with steaming water and place your face over it. Cover your head with a towel and take deep breaths for 5-10 minutes. Repeat this 2-3 times in a day.
Mix a teaspoon pure salt to a half cup of sterile water. You may boil and then cool water for this purpose. Mix well and pour it in a clean and sterile spray bottle. Spritz the salt water into nasal cavities a few times in a day.
Saline water acts as a humidifier. It keeps the nasal linings hydrated and relieves nasal congestion and dry nose.
If spray bottle is not available. Wash and dry your hands. Take a few drops of saline water on your clean palms and inhale. After 10 seconds blow it out.
Sauna is not just a way to relax, but also clears congested and dry nose. Sit for 10-20 minutes in sauna to clear the nasal passages. However, make sure don’t spend too much time in the sauna or you may end with a leaky nose.
Olive oil hydrates the skin and mucous inside nasal passage and also relives swelling and irritation. With the help of a dropper, put a few drops of olive oil in both the nostrils. Repeat this a few times in a day. Repeat this 2 times in a day.
Coconut oil like olive oil clears dry nose and moistens the mucous membrane and skin inside the nose. Use coconut oil for dry just like olive oil.
Sesame oil is rich in vitamin E. It acts as a moisturizer and treats dry skin. Use it in the same way for dry nose as olive oil.
Vitamin E not only keeps the skin moisturized but also has anti-inflammatory properties. It speeds healing. Break open a capsule of vitamin E, Tilt your head back and the put 2-3 drops of vitamin E oil in each nostril.
Dry nose is not a disease but may be an invitation for sinusitis and headaches. It causes burning and pain so better try above home remedies to get rid of dry nose.
If nasal dryness lasts for more than 10 days better consult your doctor as it may be due to some serious underlying health issue such as Sjogren’s syndrome. If along with dry nose there is fever, non-stop bleeding and tiredness better see your doctor.
