Body odour is a social embarrassment. The pungent smell emitted from your body enforces people to maintain a distance and lose your confidence. Getting rid of body odour is possible with the help of simple home remedies readily available in your kitchen.

1. Apple cider vinegar-

Apple cider vinegar balances the pH level of the skin and prevents the growth of odour-causing bacteria.
Add a cup of apple cider vinegar to your bathtub filled with water and soak yourself in it for 10 to 15 minutes.
You may also pour a few drops of apple cider on a cotton ball and rub your underarms with it. After 3 minutes take a shower. Repeat this two times in a day.

* You may also use white vinegar.

* Never use vinegar after shaving underarms as it may cause abrasion.

2. Witch hazel-

Like apple cider vinegar witch hazel also lowers the skin pH and makes the environment unsuitable for the bacteria to thrive. Soak a cotton ball with witch hazel and apply it directly to your underarms and groin area. Better use witch hazel instead of your deodorant or use your deodorant after applying it.

3. Baking soda-

Baking soda has the property to absorb the excess of moisture. Also, it is antibacterial and maintains skin pH.
Add lemon juice to 2 teaspoon baking soda. Mix well to make a thin paste and apply the paste to your underarms and groin area as they sweat excessively. After a few minute rinse it off with plain water. Remeber not to scrub. This is followed by taking a bath. Repeat this once in a day for a couple of weeks.

You may also mix baking soda with cornstarch in equal amounts and apply the mixture to your underarms just like talcum powder. It will provide you protection against foul body odour for several hours.

4. Tomato juice-

Tomato juice is a natural antiseptic. It kills bacteria and has been used for ages to treat foul body odour. Crush a few tomatoes. Sieve the pulp to extract juice. Add tomato juice to a bucket of water or your bathtub filled with water. Bathe in the water or soak yourself in it for 10 minutes. Repeat this for a few days.
Also, add tomato juice to your daily diet regime.

5. Sage-

Sage is rich in delightful fragrance. It lowers the activity of sweat gland and is antibacterial. You can make a natural deodorant using sage.

Mix a few drops of sage essential oil, lavender essential oil. Coriander oil and 2 ounces of witch hazel. Mix the ingredients and pour the solution into a spray bottle. Your natural deodorant is ready to use.
Alternatively, steep four teaspoons of dried sage in 4 cups of steaming water for 15 minutes. Strain and cool the solution. Rinse your underarms with this solution two times in a day.

*Also, add a cup of sage tea to your daily diet regime. But make sure not to drink more than 2 cups of sage tea in a day.

6. Rosemary-

Chlorophyll, and methanol present in rosemary inhibit the growth of odour-causing bacteria. It has a pleasant fragrance and acts as a natural deodorant.
Steep a half cup of rosemary leaves in 4 cups of steaming water for 10 minutes. Strain and add this concoction to bath water and bath with it. You will smell pleasant for the rest of the day. Alternatively, you may also add the concoction to the bathtub filled with water and soak yourself in it for 20 minutes. Repeat this every day.

*In case of any irritation please discontinue it.

*Drinking rosemary tea has also been found useful in treating body odour as it contains zinc and zinc deficiency may cause foul body odour.

7. Lemon juice-

Lemon juice lowers the skin pH level and prevents the growth of bacteria.
Cut a lemon into two halves and rub one of the halves on your underarm. This is followed by rinsing underarms with warm water. Repeat this once in a day. In case your skin is sensitive, and lemon juice irritates your skin, add a half of lemon juice to a half cup of water. With the help of, a cotton ball apply the dilution to the areas that sweat a lot. After 10 minutes wash it off. Repeat this every day for improvement.

8. Holy basil leaves-

Holy basil leave is antibacterial. Crush a few holy basil leaves and extract its juice, Mix the juice of holy basil leaves with a few drops of tea tree oil and apply to your underarms with the help of a cotton ball. Leave it to dry and then wash it off.
